Neptune Ventures SM LLC announces the acquisition of Lahaina.com

Santa Monica, CA, June 17, 2008- Neptune Ventures SM LLC announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the Internet domain name Lahaina.com. The exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition will help them continue to build their network of sites in popular web verticals.

The sale of Lahaina.com follows the sale of several other highly publicized domains so far in 2008.  Despite the economic downturn as a whole, the domain industry continues to show strong signs of growth.

“We are excited about the opportunity to build around this GeoDomain,” said Neptune’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Neu.  “Lahaina is a great community and tourist destination.  We took many trips there growing up and are excited to return to the area and provide a key online tool to improve the communication between visitors and local businesses and residents.”

Lahaina, a small town on the island of Maui in Hawaii, has been ranked as one of the top 10 destinations in the U.S. and top 100 in the world. “Hawaii as an area is quite possibly the top tourist destination in the world.  Lahaina is one of the most popular destinations within Hawaii,” Neu said.

Initially, Neptune has developed a basic site to maintain its loyal visitors and to begin gathering new eyes to the site.  Development of a full site has already begun and they are targeting a larger release within the next few months.

Basketball is one of the most popular and fastest growing sports in the world. “Our goal is to help shape the future of basketball from the ground up.  We feel there is no better platform to reach a global basketball audience than the Internet and subsequently this domain” Neu said.
